454. Study Saturday – Opportunity

In drawings like these, I become increasingly aware of how important perspective is. Start out with the big shapes that need to line up, and work towards the details. Something can look awesome in detail, but in the wrong perspective it distracts a lot.

Today’s prompt is Study Saturday – Opportunity. In great honor to a man made machine that lasted longer than expected in a very hostile environment. Looking at the stereo camera, he reminds me of Johnny Five in the movie Short Circuit.

I used my small Croquis H pen for most of the outline and a regular 6B pencil. I like the big strokes and playfulness, I did not wanted to go for a perfect copy, just the essence. All done in my Moleskine. If I had more time I might have attempted to do a watercolor version my transplanting it, but for now it stays a sketch.
